🌿 About

Sharavathi Wildlife Sanctuary, located in Shivamogga district, Karnataka, is spread across the lush Western Ghats. It is named after the Sharavathi River, which flows through the sanctuary and forms the famous Jog Falls, one of India’s highest waterfalls.

The sanctuary is rich in evergreen, semi-evergreen, and moist deciduous forests, making it a biodiversity hotspot.


🐘 Wildlife

  • Mammals: Tigers, leopards, sloth bears, jackals, wild dogs, spotted deer, sambar deer, wild boar.
  • Birds: Hornbills, parakeets, drongos, woodpeckers, eagles, and many migratory species.
  • Reptiles & Amphibians: King cobras, pythons, monitor lizards, and several endemic frogs.
